Summary
In addition to the normal steps involved in
wallpapering you will need to follow these
additional ones when wallpapering a stairwell
1 About working at height
2 Using patterned paper
3 Cutting the paper
Step 1 - About working at height
While working at height you must always be aware
of safety issues. To find out more about using a
ladder click on the icon below. Specialist ladders
are available to buy or for hire for working on
the stairs. In some houses these will be a
necessity rather than a luxury - not only will the
work be easier to accomplish, the finish and
safety of the task will be much improved.
Step 2 - Using patterned paper
It is much easier to use paper without a pattern,
especially in a stairwell, due to the problems of
access and the lengths of the pieces that will be
needed to cover the height of the stairwell.
Consider this when making your choice of paper.
Step 3 - Cutting the paper
Be extra careful when cutting the paper. Always
base your measurement on the lowest stair and then
cut the diagonal once the paper is in place. Apart
from that hang the paper in exactly the same way
as standard paper.
